Enclosing the Dasher Green pool
Currently the Columbia Association is considering enclosing one pool on the east side of town. The pools under consideration are Locust Park, Talbott Springs and Dasher Green. The current thoughts are to make one of these for the exclusive use of swim team or maybe seniors or shared use with the public during the summer. This is still in the very early stages of planning but the Owen Brown Village Board wants to collect your ideas, thoughts and concerns.

CA Bikesharing Program
The Columbia Association, as part of a joint grant application with Howard County is studying the possibility of implementing a bikeshare system in the county. They have created a short 3 question survey which can be accessed here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LQ79L3Q.
Getting community input would be greatly appreciated so CA can understand who would support a bikesharing program in Howard County and where users would like to go.
Please check out SarahSays blog on this as well.

CA will also be applying for feasibility funding. More information can be found using this link: http://www.mdot.maryland.gov/Planning/Bike/Bikeshare_Apply.html
Lake Elkhorn Dredging Update - The Columbia Association has rejected a request by the Lake Elkhorn dredging contractor to consider longer work hours for the dredging project this coming summer. The contractor had made a request to continue work on the lake until 11pm but that request has been denied and dredging work will be limited to work hours from 7am to 9pm.
The Columbia Association (CA) has contracted with JND Thomas Co., Inc. of Riverside, Calif., for the dredging of Lake Elkhorn in the amount of approximately $3.2 million. JND Thomas proposes to hydraulically dredge and mechanically dewater the Lake Elkhorn sediment. Per the contractor’s availability, the start date for Lake Elkhorn dredging will be June 2012.
CA will continue to keep the public informed with project updates as they are available. Please visit ColumbiaAssociation.org/Dredging for more information.
